New- The Best Moments in MXGP Sardegna

What a Grand Prix that was! Herlings’ comeback and the adrenaline from races 1 and 2 made for a great competition.

With every twist and turn, the skilled racers faced the challenge.

It wasn’t easy though- that’s for certain. So, let’s take a look at the qualifying race, races one to two and the overall rankings.

Qualifying

The qualifying race allows for a quick practice before the actual race portion begins as well as for a ranking aspect too. The rankings in this specific qualifying race are as followed:

  • Previous Grand Prix winner Tim Gajser took the 1st place title in
    the qualifying round.
  • Lucas Coenen placed 2nd to Gajser by a miniscule 0.33 seconds
  • Reuben Fernandez ranked 3rd after a 1 second gap between him and Coenen was formed.

Herlings Update

After Herlings’ awaited return, he took part in every race of the Grand Prix. In the qualifying race he placed 22nd, a significantly lower rank than he usually gets, but taking into consideration his recent recovery, he has made a fine return to the MXGP nonetheless.

MXGP Race 1

The first official race of the Grand Prix counts towards the overall ranking, as well as with the 2nd race. The rankings are as followed for Race One:

  • The previous runner up in qualifying, Coenen, pushed through into 1st place
  • Previously 4th place rider Glenn Coldenhoff also moved up in the ranks, going 2 places up to 2nd
  • New podium Reacher Andrea Bonacorsi got up to 3rd place.

Herlings Update

Herlings’ rankings went up in this first race by 2 places. For the start of a season he is participating during recovery, 20th place is a strong start. When overall rankings come about this will push him forward.

Moving on to the second and final race of the MXGP Sardegna 2026, the rankings changed once again.

  • Previous 1st place racer in the first round of the Argentine MXGP, Romain Febvre, regained a title in the second race of the Grand Prix.
  • Then, due to a 1 second gap between him and Febvre, Tim Gajser came in 2nd place.
  • Glenn Coldenhoff remained in the top 3 in the second MXGP race, placing 3rd.

Herlings Update

Herlings decided to end the Grand Prix with a bang as he finished 7th place in the second instalment of this competition. From the first race, he moved up over 10 places. This also adds to the overall rankings and pushed him even further up on the leader board.

Overall Rankings

Romain Febvre remains 1st place on the overall MXGP leader board. However, in the combined one (4 out of 20 rounds completed) Tim Gajser holds the title.

For 2nd place, Glenn Coldenhoff claimed the Sardegnian MXGP title. Although, due to his points, Romain Febvre places 2nd overall in the leader board.

Tim Gajser took 3rd place in the second MXGP race. In comparison to this, Glenn Coldenhoff holds the overall 3rd place on the chart.

Herlings Update

Herlings placed 15th in the second MXGP race overall, a very impressive turn despite only competing in 1 of the 4 races so far. Then for the overall leader board for all four races he is 22nd out of 31 already.
