Excellent Races in the Swiss GP ’25

After a great race in Trentino, MXGP competitors once again gave it their all.

Records were broken and tensions were high as opponents raced to the finish line, attempting to claim the number 1 title. In this segment we will discuss rankings as well as an overview of the race, and also analyse Jeffrey Herlings’ performance.

A Victory For Coenen

18-year-old Coenen performed exceptionally well in both race one and two. Whilst becoming the youngest GP winner in MXGP class, he defeated current leader Tim Gajser and close 2nd racer, Romain Febvre.

His win of both the Grand Prix races (his first ever) gained him more points for the overall leader board. With his 50-point advance, this places him 3rd with a score of 227, which is also only 51 points behind Febvre in 2nd.

Many have said that they believe the young racer to have a bright future in MXGP as well as another win in forthcoming races.

Tim Gajser Remains In The Lead

Despite him not consistently getting 1st in every race, including this one, Gajser has a massive number of points and still has a considerable margin.

He finished 2nd in the first race, however didn’t finish the second race due to an injury on track. This alone gained him 22 points and a 9th place in the overall MXGP rankings.

Finally, in the combined leader board he has a massive sum of 305 points. This puts him further ahead of his competitors despite only earning a slight amount of points.

Jeffrey Herlings Update

In race one, Herlings secured a middle starting position of P14 after trouble keeping a higher position.

However, all this changed in the 2nd race. Although he couldn’t keep a top 5 place previously, in race two he gained a 4th place finish. He has drastically jumped up 10m places in the span of one race – a remarkable performance.

Despite only partaking in limited races this season, he is doing great! Whilst he sits at #18 overall, he is surely set to climb the ranks!
