
It was certainly a muddy one! With every turn, adrenaline was in the air. After the previous MXGP races in Portugal and Switzerland, everyone raced to reach top 10 to attempt to alter the rankings. Can they do it?
In this blog, we will go over some key highlights of the race as well as the rankings.
Challenging Conditions
High amount of rain made for a challenging and treacherous track. The rain transformed the course into a mud field, which required immense skill as well as concentration from all drivers. Adaptability was also a
needed skill during this race due to the everchanging conditions. The rain, and the adaptability of the racers, is what determined the dynamic and outcome of the race.
Despite the tricky situations, they all gave it their very bests and performed exceptionally well all throughout.
Victory In Home Race
Ruben Fernandez demonstrated his amazing skills during the Spanish Grand Prix- his home race. He placed P3 in each race and scored him and his team 38 points in total. Not only did he preserve amongst the really challenging conditions on the track, but he also proved his speed in an important place.
Despite his crash during qualifying and his 15th place start to the race, he did exceptionally well.
Febvre Solidifies His Lead
After Tim Gajser was unfortunately injured, he underwent surgery. As a result of this, he has missed the previous races. This means that whilst he recovers, other racers can pass him. Only Romain Febvre and Lucas Coenen have done this so far.
Febvre continually delivers amazing results that get him points for the leader board. In the Spanish Grand Prix, he gained P1 in both races after a strong start in the practice races. This gained him 47 points overall and helped him solidify his lead in the overall championship.
Herlings Update
Herlings is certainly working his way back up to the top bit by bit as the championship continues. During the Spanish Grand Prix, he skilfully navigated his way into the top 10 in both races regardless of the poor
conditions. He managed a 7th place finish in race one, and overall, he managed to get him and his team 29 points whilst holding 6 overall for the Spanish GP.
In the total championship results, he ranks 13th. This is a massive improvement considering where and when he started.

The next MXGP race approaches. The rankings are bound to change. But will Gajser return and take back his crown?
