The motorsports industry is amazing. It forms community, allows for people to share their interest in racing and for millions of people is really fun. However, adrenaline isn’t the only thing leaving during racing.
Motorsports releases millions of tonnes of carbon into the Earth’s atmosphere every year. Formula 1 alone has over 250,000 tonnes of gas attached to it and in 2020, 7 billion tonnes of C02 was emitted from cars.
Carbon Positive Motorsport is a company that wishes to make motorsports more sustainable and also accessible.
But what do they do?
Their Values
They are aiming to combat climate change whilst preserving motorsport and also championships. Carbon Positive Motorsport are using their love for motorsports to provide the services. These will offset more carbon emissions than are created.
They are firm in the belief that they will create a positive carbon imprint from their motorsports activities.
Their Services
Helping anyone within the motorsports world to make a sustainable, positive impact is just one of the things they offer. At Carbon Positive Motorsport they also present events, competitions and spectacles with a range of different carbon offsetting services. This means that they make up for the amount of carbon released from motorsport.
Junior Rallycross Championship
Carbon Positive Motorsport are partners with the Junior division Rallycross Championship of 2025. This is making more people aware of the company as well as what they do.
The next rounds are less than a month away. They are taking place in Pembrey on the 26th and 27th of June.
Their partnership with CPM represents the values of both. Peter Gwynne, from the Championship, says their partnership is developing not just skilful drivers, but “environmentally conscious motorsport athletes” and also that they are “proud” of those who are competing with a positive carbon impact.
Many are calling what they are doing really positive. Others say it shows their dedication to preserving such a good thing like motorsports, whilst being environmentally conscious. They are pushing the message that we can have the activities we all know and love, whilst minimising the impact we have.
