After a great race in Canada, many held their expectations high for the Red Bull Ring in Austria. After some issues with penalty points for Verstappen, he remained in the clear for this round. There were some
disappointing moments as well as exciting. From DNFS, to new people seeing the top 10, here is a rundown of the key events.
Antonelli and Verstappen Collide
During the race, Antonelli caused a crash between himself and Verstappen. This resulted in both of them not finishing the race and not gaining any points for their teams.
Antonelli recognises his fault in the situation and took responsibility during the crash as well as after, during interviews.
Verstappen expressed his annoyance during the crash but then spoke to Antonelli- things soon calmed down.
During interviews after the race, they both spoke on the situation and stated that there was no problem, it was a mistake, and it is okay.
Antonelli now has a 3 grid penalty for the next race in Silverstone.
Bortoleto Gets His First Points in F1
The Kick Sauber rookie has finally earned his first points as an F1 driver. The Sauber car is notoriously one of the slowest cars on the grid, so many are highly impressed with his P8 finish. This gained him 4 points,
so he is no longer dead last in the overall standings.
His mentor, Fernando Alonso, has also shown his joy for Bortoleto. Many in the F1 world are very proud.
Nico Hulkenburg also succeeded in the Austrian round. He gained a P9 finish, after gaining top 10 positions in previous rounds also.
Overall, it was a very good race week for the Kick Sauber F1 Team.
Another Win For McLaren
Both McLaren drivers finished on the podium during the Austrian round. After a tough race week previously for Lando Norris, with his DNF, he certainly made a comeback.
Whilst Norris gained the pole position, Piastri was slightly behind and secured P2. McLaren advances its lead in the driver standings, whilst the pair hold strong at P1 and 2 in the overall standings for drivers.
However, there is a mere 15-point gap between the pair. Many fans are predicting that Norris will soon close this gap and place 1st. Others are saying that Piastri is nearly guaranteed to win the World Title.
Rankings
