What Happened in the Hungarian GP?

The Hungarian Grand Prix is over, and this means that the Formula 1 summer break has started.

There were some highs and definitely some lows this weekend for many drivers. From a great podium line-up to some sad Ferrari moments, it was a great and eventful race.

A Victory for McLaren

Both Papaya drivers were on the podium and also scored points. This means that their lead on the other drivers and teams is beyond massive. Lando Norris took 1st place in the end. However, Oscar Piastri still
remains at P1 in the overall rankings.

The Hungarian Grand Prix marks McLaren’s 200th race win, therefore securing a double podium in this is simply amazing.

To add to this, Norris’ win signified an amazing strategy from the McLaren team. They used a one pit stop approach and clearly it worked out well.

Heartbreak at Ferrari

After getting pole position in qualifying, Leclerc didn’t uphold this in the actual race. During the GP, it was a tough one. You could tell that he was feeling frustration as well as anger. Overall, he ranked 4th in the race.

Hamilton has also had a tough time at Ferrari. After the race, he said in an interview that he feels “useless.” It is beyond sad to watch Hamilton be stuck in a situation like this, especially when looking back at his prime performance.

Bortoleto’s Amazing Performance

All weekend, the rookie was on fire. He really impressed many people and is finally showcasing his potential. Given the car he is currently driving, this makes it all the more impressive.

During qualifying, he placed 7th. This itself was huge for Bortoleto, however he outdid himself even more during the actual GP race. He got up to 6th place – getting a career best position in Formula 1. This also
gained him Driver Of the Day unsurprisingly.

Aston Martin’s Best Results Yet

Aston Martin has been lacking good results recently. However, on Sunday both drivers got into the top 10 and also scored points. Alonso finished 5th, and Stroll 7th. This marks their best performance since Brazil 2023.

Overall, it was a good race filled with drama, action and some great successes. We are looking forward to the next Grand Prix in the Netherlands after the Summer break.
