The Grand Prix de France was a great race. There were some unexpected turns as well as a broken streak for French riders. After the previous Spanish Grand Prix a new leader was on the rankings, meaning the
previous three races all had different winners. Does this mean any changes to the overall rankings have changed?
In this article, we will go over some of the many amazing highlights from the race and also the rankings.
First French Win Since 1954
For 71 years, no French racer has secured P1 at their home race. This was until the 2025 French Grand Prix when Johann Zarco secured pole position. This is a massive victory for him as well as his team and country.
The victory was his second after his maiden win in the Australian 2023 GP. Despite starting 11th then slipping to 17th, he managed to gain the lead on lap 8 and finish with a 20 second advantage over Marquez. The 34-year-old is the oldest driver on the grid, yet his skill and speed are highly impressive.
The win was highly emotional for him and his family due to how big the victory actually was. It is a great accomplishment to get P1, but to also break the streak of Frenchmen not winning their home race. After the race, he was seen running to his family and then shortly his supporters in the crowd. A massive well done to Zarco!
Challenging Conditions
The track faced many challenges from the weather. The rain caused chaos for many riders and effected their strategy. This caused a number of them to not qualify nor finish the race. However regardless of this,
they all gave it their best, and many ended the race on a strong point.
To add to this, it wasn’t just weather conditions that were posing challenges. The conditions of the race itself were difficult due to the many swapping of bikes all throughout the race. The change impacted
strategies as well, causing many to fumble in the Grand Prix.
Penalty For Quartararo
Fabio Quartararo has been issued a 10-minute suspension for the forthcoming Silverstone Grand Prix practice. After he crashed out on turn 14, he disobeyed direct orders from marshals. This also gained him
a €2000 fine.
Despite his saddening loss at his home race, he remains confident and positive for his future races. He also congratulated Zarco, fellow Frenchman, on his win.
Overall Rankings
